All great civilizations have taken fail in regular backing practices. Trade practices; have been traced fundament to the first civilizations in the Near East. As people started to construct settlers and learning how to farm and rise livestock. Instead of living a nomadic style of life were they fallowed the animals they hunted. As these communities started to settle in the Near East, they would become the city-states of Mesopotamia.
Mesopotamia civilization had heavily depended on trade. The Mesopotamia neck of the woods had few natural resources that consisted mostly of silver, wool from herded animals and, agricultural prop up resources that grew mostly w ignite and barley. Mesopotamia having few natural resources of its own, was located in a region of vital trading links amid central Asia, Afghanistan, Persia, Arabia, Egypt, Anatolia and, the Eastern Mediterranean (Steele 36). The most vital bit to Mesopotamia was wood along with st champion, gold, spices, blue lapis, pearls, ivory, and pottery, copper and, tin. These items were carried not from unmatched city to another, but passed on from merchant to merchant at trading posts. Camels were used because of there high tolerance for heat and were suited to travel threw the Near Eastern world. As timber was scarce in Mesopotamia and Egypt, it became a sot after commodity.



Lebanese cedar, the most valued wood of all, used to build ships, palaces and, temples (Steele 37).
As cities started to trade with one another, it not only brought highly semiprecious goods but wealth to the cities. As Mesopotamia, grew and developed new forms of trade evolved. Trade went from universe a bartering type of economy to one that used commodities such as silver or particle in payments (Streich 1). The Mesopotamians eventually developed a uniform archetype of weights and measurements. They did all this to be able to collect taxes on the items being traded, and with these taxes brining economic growth to there cities.
