Being a Salvadorian American woman has direct me to face many obstacles resulting from my personal journey as well as racial stereotypes. For example, Is she going to graduate high indoctrinate? or Is she going to get pregnant at the duration of 16 because thats just what Hispanic girls do. Or the usual Oh shes Hispanic, she must be ghetto or of dishonor social path. These are some of the expectations that society had bestowed upon me as a young Hispanic woman and that I was mark finish to challenge.

Its funny how we (the people) dont really disc all over how society affects us therefore we make choices based off what society expects from us. Some choices you do have control over and for others you dont. For instance, I was natural into a lower halfway class house hold. My whole family was born in El Salvador except for me. My father who came from a high upper midsection class was the first to come to the states (Los Angeles, atomic number 20) in 1982 because of the Salvadorian War that lasted from 1879-1990. short after, my mother who was born into a very low class immigrated to the states in 1984, leaving their two children behind. Both of my parents worked hard, my mother as a house keeper and my father as a sales associate at Home Depot.

Two years after I was born (1990) and raised in Hollywood. From here I would say our family was in lower middle class. Up until I turned six, my sister Jessica had just graduated High School and got accepted into Cal conjure up University of Northridge (CSUN). Our family ended up moving to Northridge in 1997. Then in 2000 my sister Maria started to attend CSUN also and shortly after my father got a better paying job as a land surveyor, while my mom was still a house keeper.
